Most 1/2" drive impact socket sets top out at 1-1/4". The sockets are Cr-Mo alloy steel, heat-treated to HRC 42–48 — the same hardness spec you'd expect from a shop-grade impact socket, not the soft chrome-vanadium you'd find in a standard hand-tool set. The 6-point hex profile grabs flat-to-flat on the fastener instead of corner-to-corner, which matters when you're hitting it with an impact wrench and the bolt is already corroded.
