Some jobs stop dead the moment there's nothing to grab. A stuck cast-iron elbow buried in the wall. An oil filter housing that's been on for three seasons. Conduit with no flats, no hex, just a smooth round surface that laughs at every other wrench in the box. That's where a chain wrench earns its keep.

This VEVOR 24" chain wrench wraps 22 inches of rust-resistant chain around anything up to 6.7" in diameter and locks down with double-serrated jaws that bite in both directions. The 24-inch I-beam handle gives you the leverage to break loose what a strap wrench can't, without the bulk of a full-size pipe wrench.

What's in it:

  • Handle length: 24 in (610 mm), forged carbon steel I-beam
  • Chain length: 22 in (560 mm), rust-resistant with anti-rust oil coating
  • Max pipe OD: 6.7 in / 170 mm
  • Double-serrated jaw head, reversible for tighten or loosen in either direction
  • Rotatable chain head for awkward approach angles
  • Material: carbon steel, heat-treated chrome finish
  • Net weight: 4.0 lb (1.8 kg)

Good for:

  • Exhaust pipes and flex couplings — holds round tubing without crushing it
  • Oil filter housings and canister caps with no wrench flats
  • Conduit, EMT, and large-diameter PVC that slips in a strap wrench
  • Tight overhead or confined-space plumbing where a standard pipe wrench won't fit

Not for:

  • Hex fasteners or nuts — use a box wrench
  • Polished chrome fixtures where chain contact will mar the finish
  • Torque-critical applications that need a calibrated reading

At $40, this is a tool you buy once, throw in the bottom of the toolbox, and pull out the two or three times a year you actually need it. It does one thing well: grip round objects and turn them. No drama.
