A shop compressor is the tool that unlocks everything else. Inflate tires without a gas station run. Drive a brad nailer through an afternoon of trim work. Blow out brake dust before you start a caliper swap. Run a blow gun to clear chips off the drill press. Without one, you're either doing it by hand or borrowing someone else's.

This VEVOR 10-gallon oil-free compressor runs on 120V and maxes out at 125 PSI. It's horizontal, portable, and quiet enough (78 dB) that you won't need hearing protection to use it in a residential garage.

Specs

  • Tank: 10 gallons
  • Max pressure: 125 PSI
  • Airflow: 5.3 CFM @ 90 PSI
  • Motor: 2 HP (1.32 kW), 1680 RPM
  • Voltage: 120V / standard outlet
  • Lubrication: Oil-free — no maintenance, no oil changes
  • Noise: 78 dB
  • Weight: 81.6 lbs
  • Dimensions: 28.3" L x 15.4" W x 28" H

Good for

  • Tire inflation — car, truck, and ATV tires; 10 gallons fills a car tire without the compressor cycling constantly
  • Brad nailer and finish nailer — enough CFM to keep up with normal nailing pace on trim or framing
  • Blow gun — clearing chips, brake dust, or blowing out air filters
  • Spray painting — HVLP touch-up and spot painting at light duty; not continuous production work
  • Inflation tools, ratchets, and light-duty die grinders

Not for

  • Continuous high-draw air tools — a 1/2" impact wrench running non-stop, a DA sander, or a sandblaster will outpace 5.3 CFM and stall the compressor. Use it for burst work, not sustained draw.
  • Painting large panels back-to-back — a full HVLP production gun needs more CFM than this delivers at pace.
  • Three-phase or 240V environments — this is a standard 120V household outlet machine.

At $282, this is a budget compressor built to a budget compressor's price. It's not a California Air Tools or an Ingersoll Rand. What it is: a 10-gallon, 125 PSI, oil-free machine that plugs into a standard outlet and doesn't require maintenance. For a mechanic doing tire work and occasional air tool use, or a homeowner setting up a first shop, that's a solid trade.
